As CNC Programmer the primary responsibilities are the creation of CNC programs through the use of CAD/CAM software, general editors or manual entry of code on controllers. These programs run on various machine types, styles, and controllers and have varying complexity.
Other responsibilities include performing program comparisons, maintaining documents, conducting tool tests, recommending tools and fixtures, and at times performing machine set‑up and program proof‑out, including measuring and inspecting machined parts. The individual will, at times, be responsible for instructing others on proper machine set‑up procedures.
The CNC Programmer must read, comprehend, and follow work instructions and blueprints, demonstrate precise use of instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height stands, and indicators, perform part measurements to .0001, and possess an excellent understanding and working knowledge of GD&T with the ability to instruct others. All work is subject to final inspection and appraisal. Other duties may be assigned.
