Job summary

Martinic Engineering Inc in Tolleson, AZ is seeking a CNC Programmer to create and edit machining processes, determine methods and sequences for operations, and develop programs for 5-axis CNC machines to manufacture tight-tolerance parts.

You will evaluate processes, design work instructions, apply lean principles, plan layouts, and ensure product and process quality by testing and benchmarking. Travel to vendors or customers may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering or related field; typically 3+ years of experience.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and production engineering theories, lean manufacturing principles, and data analysis.
  • Ability to work with CAD/CAM systems and read engineering drawings.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Create and/or edit manufacturing processes and workflows. Determine the methods and sequence for manufacturing operations of machined parts and assemblies, and ensure products and processes meet customer quality requirements. Create machine programs for 5-axis CNC machines to manufacture tight tolerance machined parts.


Essential Functions


  • Evaluates manufacturing processes by conducting process analysis, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, machine programming, assembly, tooling, and materials, and soliciting observations from operators/production technicians.

  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment. Prepares work instructions to communicate manufacturing requirements to production personnel.

  • Refines and enhances products and processes by applying continuous improvement and key lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques to critical or high-impact areas of production.

  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, equipment layout and establishing and implementing "design for manufacture and assembly" plans. Assures process control and reliability for broad areas of manufacturing that may include supplier base as appropriate.

  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods, testing finished product and process capabilities, and establishing standards to confirm and validate manufacturing process requirements.

  • Recommends and implements changes to manufacturing processes by analyzing production, labor standards, and material costs.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, establishing industry networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and/or participating in professional associations.

  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements (e.g. environmental, building code, safety, etc.).

  • Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses. Analyzes, substantiates, and proposes changes in methods and materials with cost and quality impact.

  • Shares specialized knowledge with others. Represents company on projects. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Work assignments may include cross-functional (e.g. quality, design, or test engineering) or project team responsibilities.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree (BS) in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field a plus. Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through three years or more of increasingly responsible related experience.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Knowledge of manufacturing and production engineering theories, principles, practices, techniques and concepts, and broad knowledge of other related engineering areas and general business operations.

  • Ability to effectively assess and implement continuous improvement and lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques.

  • Ability to use standard business applications software and/or specialized data analysis tools.

  • Ability to work effectively with CAD/CAM systems or other computer-aided manufacturing systems.

  • Ability to apply drafting and related machining systems to make recommendations for improved productivity.

  • Ability to establish goals and objectives to complete projects.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, technical policies and recommend changes to procedures; effectively communicate and present information to team members, team leaders, and top management.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.


The employee frequently is required to use hands to operate a computer and talk or hear. The employee is required to sit, stand and walk as needed. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Also expected of the employee is regular attendance, the ability to work cooperatively and professionally with others and members of the public, and the ability to manage multiple tasks at once. The employee may be required to travel to vendors or customers.
