Job summary

MCCAY TOOL & ENGINEERING COMPANY is seeking an experienced CNC programmer to develop and optimize programs for multi-axis mills and lathes using CAM software. You will interpret complex aerospace blueprints and GD&T to ensure precise results.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in aerospace/defense environments, strong G-code editing skills, and hands-on experience with Mastercam/NX, plus a solid understanding of GD&T and tooling selection.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of CNC programming experience in a precision manufacturing environment (aerospace/defense preferred).
• Proficiency with Mastercam and NX; GD&T understanding; G-code/M-code editing.
• Experience with 3–5 axis machining; titanium/aluminum/stainless steel materials; work-holding.

Responsibilities

• Create and optimize CNC programs for multi-axis mills and lathes using CAM software.
• Analyze blueprints, GD&T, and 3D CAD models for accurate machining.
• Define tooling, fixtures, speeds and feeds to maximize efficiency.
• Support first articles; troubleshoot on the shop floor.
• Ensure programs meet AS9100 quality standards and customer specs.

Job description

• Program Development: Create and optimize efficient CNC programs for multi-axis CNC mills and lathes utilizing CAM software. (NX & Mastercam)
• Blueprint & Model Analysis: Interpret complex aerospace blueprints, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and 3D CAD models.
• Process Optimization: Define appropriate tooling, fixtures, cutting speeds, and feeds to maximize efficiency, reduce cycle times, and minimize tool wear.
• First-Article Support: Collaborate with machinists on initial setups, troubleshoot program errors on the floor, and verify first-article components.
• Quality & Compliance: Ensure all programs align with strict internal quality standards, AS9100 regulatory frameworks, and customer specifications.
• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of dedicated CNC programming experience within a precision manufacturing environment (aerospace or defense preferred).
• Software Proficiency: Strong hands-on experience with Mastercam, NX, or equivalent industry-standard CAM software.
• Technical Skills: Expert knowledge of G-code/M-code editing, blueprint reading, and precise application of GD&T symbols.
• Machining Knowledge: Solid understanding of multi-axis machining (3, 4, or 5-axis setup), cutting tools, material properties (titanium, aluminum, stainless steel), and work-holding solutions.
