CNC Programmer will be responsible for creating multi-axis CNC programs (3, 4, and 5 axis) for aerospace components. This individual will work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure efficient and accurate machining processes that meet tight tolerances and industry standards.
Duties
- Develop and optimize CNC programs for 3, 4, and 5-axis milling and turning centers using CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, NX, or equivalent).
- Interpret complex aerospace engineering drawings, models, and GD&T to generate precise tool paths.
- Select appropriate tooling, fixturing, and machining strategies for each job.
- Collaborate with machinists and setup personnel to ensure smooth job execution and troubleshoot any issues on the shop floor.
- Standardize programming practices and document best methods for repeatability and process improvement.
- Lead programming efforts on new product introductions and prototyping.
- Train and mentor junior programmers and machinists.
- Work with estimating and planning teams to provide cycle time estimates and input on manufacturability.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to machining efficiency, quality, and cost reduction.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience programming multi-axis CNC machines in a high-precision environment (aerospace preferred).
- Expert-level proficiency with CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, NX, or similar).
- Strong understanding of G-code, post-processors, and CNC machine operations.
- Deep knowledge of multi-axis machining principles, tooling, and workholding strategies.
- Ability to read and interpret complex aerospace blueprints, 3D models, and GD&T.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience with AS9100 or other aerospace quality standards is a plus.
