Position Overview
OPEX Corporation is hiring a CNC Programmer for our manufacturing facility in Pennsauken, NJ. The role involves programming and operating various CNC machines including HAAS VMC, Brother R650 pallet and S1000 VMC, MAZAK, DMG MORI, and Takisawa Mill-Turn Lathes to machine metallic and nonmetallic workpieces.
Responsibilities
- Develop manufacturing processes from blueprints or CAD files, and design or modify manufacturing methods, tooling, and equipment.
- Select appropriate cutting tools and set parameters such as feed rate, cutting speed, and depth of cut based on material properties.
- Program CNC machines using CAM software like FeatureCAM and Partmaker.
- Create setup documentation and troubleshoot programs and jobs.
- Ensure programs run within scheduled times and communicate discrepancies to planners.
- Assist in machine setup and create instructions for machinists.
- Maintain engineering documentation, including ECNs, tool lists, setup sheets, and CNC programs.
- Conduct machine trials and simulations to ensure proper functioning and adherence to specifications.
- Analyze and modify existing jobs for efficiency and cost savings.
- Maintain knowledge through workshops, publications, and online resources.
- Follow all safety rules and regulations.
Qualifications
- High School diploma required; Associate’s degree in CNC programming preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience setting up and operating CNC machines.
- Minimum 3 years of experience programming Mill Turn Lathes and VMCs with CAM software.
- Proficiency in G&M codes, blueprint reading, and use of measuring tools.
- Understanding of feeds, speeds, and materials like aluminum, steel, and plastics.
- Ability to visualize complex parts and determine machining sequences.
- Strong problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Work Environment
Production machine shop with a balance between programming and floor participation.
