Job description

Job Position: CNC Programmer

Location: Machesney Park, IL 61115

Pay Rate: $25.00 to $38.00/hr BOE

Shift: Monday through Friday 6:30am to 5pm Saturday 6am to 11am

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated CNC Programmer to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC (Computer Numerical Control) programs that drive precision machining operations. Your expertise will ensure the efficient production of high‑quality components by utilizing advanced programming techniques and a thorough understanding of machining processes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative manufacturing projects while working with state‑of‑the‑art equipment and tools.

CNC Programmer Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and write CNC programs for various machines including CNC milling machines and CNC lathes.
  • Interpret detailed blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure accurate machining processes aligned with design specifications.
  • Create or modify part models and tooling layouts.
  • Set up and calibrate CNC machines, including controls, ensuring optimal performance and precision.
  • Conduct toolpath optimization to improve machining efficiency while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
  • Perform quality checks using precision measuring instruments such as bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and bore gauges to verify dimensional accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling, geometry, or machine operation; implement corrective actions promptly.
  • Apply principles of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) to ensure parts meet strict manufacturing tolerances.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of programs, setups, and process parameters for continuous improvement initiatives like lean manufacturing.
CNC Programmer Qualifications and Requirements
  • Proficiency in CNC programming with experience on Mazak controls is essential.
  • Strong knowledge for designing parts and tooling layouts.
  • Hands‑on experience with programming for CNC milling machines and CNC lathes.
  • Deep understanding of blueprint reading, schematics, and technical drawings to interpret complex specifications accurately.
  • Mechanical knowledge related to tooling selection and machining processes.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other mechanical measurement tools.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to streamline processes and reduce waste.
  • Ability to work with schematics, schematics interpretation, and electrical or mechanical schematics as needed.
  • Strong math skills for calculating feeds, speeds, tolerances, and geometric relationships in machining operations.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills combined with the ability to analyze complex technical issues quickly and effectively.
