Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Create and refine CNC programs for 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machining centers and mill-turn equipment.
  • Set up and operate CNC machines, performing drilling, milling, turning and grinding as needed.
  • Interpret drawings and specifications to determine machine settings.
  • Monitor operations and adjust programs to prevent out-of-tolerance parts.
  • Perform routine maintenance and keep accurate production records.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering and quality teams to improve processes.
  • Inspect finished parts for quality and ensure conformance to specs.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean working environment.

3-Dimensional Services Group is seeking CNC Programmers for all shifts at our Lapeer, Michigan location.

The CNC Programmer is responsible for developing and optimizing CNC programs used to manufacture precision parts and components. This role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, fixtures, and machine capabilities, along with the ability to interpret technical drawings, CAD models, and customer specifications. The CNC Programmer works closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure programs support efficient machining, dimensional accuracy, and high-quality production standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create, implement, and refine CNC programs for 3, 4, and 5-axis machining centers and mill-turn equipment.
  • Set up and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling, and turning.
  • Interpret and analyze technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine the appropriate machine settings and adjustments.
  • Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and make necessary adjustments.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of CNC machines to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Collaborate with team members to optimize production processes and improve efficiency.
  • Inspect finished products for quality assurance, ensuring they meet the required specifications and standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of production activities, including machine settings, adjustments, and maintenance performed.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in CNC operation is also required.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of CNC programming experience.
  • Proven track record of setting up, adjusting, and maintaining CNC machines to ensure optimal performance.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving CNC machine issues to minimize downtime.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and supervisors.
Preferred Technical Experience
  • CAM software: Tebis, PowerMill, Siemens NX, Mastercam, or comparable CAM platforms
  • CNC controls: Heidenhain, Fanuc, Mazak/Mazatrol, Siemens, Haas, or similar controls
  • CNC milling equipment: Haas, Hermle, YCM, Kitamura, Bavius, Makino, TriMill, Fooke, Starrag, or similar high-performance CNC mills
