Job summary

Johnson Service Group, Inc. is seeking a skilled CNC Programmer for a manufacturing client in the Charleston, SC area.

This full-time, first-shift role runs Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–3:00 PM and requires hands-on lathe programming with the ability to develop complete machining processes from start to finish. Responsibilities include selecting tooling, creating and optimizing G-code, setting up Lathes, validating first articles, and supporting FAI and process qualification.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on CNC programming and machining.
• Ability to independently develop machining processes from drawings through production handover.
• Proficiency in G-code programming and machine setup.
• OKUMA lathe experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop machining processes and strategies from engineering drawings and quality requirements.
• Select tooling, fixtures, and workholding equipment.
• Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using G-code and applicable software.
• Set up and operate CNC lathes to prove out programs and validate processes.
• Inspect first-piece components and support First Article Inspection (FAI) and process qualification.
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, dimensional accuracy, and surface finish issues.
• Coordinate production handovers and support CNC setup personnel.
• Improve productivity, reduce setup times, and minimize waste.

Johnson Service Group, a national recruiting firm, is seeking a CNC Programmer for a manufacturing client in the Charleston, SC area.

This is a full-time, first-shift position, Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM-3:00 PM.

Summary: Our global manufacturing client is seeking a CNC Programmer with strong hands-on lathe programming experience who can independently develop complete machining processes, including machine setup, and first-part validation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop machining processes and strategies based on engineering drawings and quality requirements.
• Select tooling, fixtures, and workholding equipment.
• Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using G-code and applicable software.
• Set up and operate CNC lathes to prove out programs and validate processes.
• Inspect first-piece components and support First Article Inspection (FAI) and process qualification.
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, dimensional accuracy, and surface finish issues.
• Optimize cutting speeds, feeds, and tooling performance.
• Maintain CNC programs, setup sheets, tooling lists, and process documentation.
• Coordinate production handovers and support CNC setup personnel.
• Improve productivity, reduce setup times, and minimize waste.
• Assist with machine troubleshooting and coordinate maintenance as needed.
• Maintain a safe, organized work environment and follow quality procedures.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams.
• Work overtime as needed to meet production schedules.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of hands-on CNC programming and machining experience, including process development, setup, prove-out, and optimization.
• Ability to independently develop machining processes from engineering drawings through production handover.
• Strong experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC lathes.
• Proficiency in G-code programming and CNC program editing.
• OKUMA CNC lathe experience, including live tooling, strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with CNC programming software such as CIMCO Edit.
• Strong knowledge of tooling, workholding, fixtures, and machining strategies.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and GD&T.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and quality control skills.
• Ability to maintain accurate programs, revisions, and setup documentation.
