Johnson Service Group is seeking a contract CNC Programmer to support our manufacturing client near Jackson, TN. The role focuses on developing, testing, and optimizing CNC programs for multi-axis machines using ESPRIT EDGE CAM software, with emphasis on tool-path optimization and quality.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of CNC programming experience, an associate degree in machining, and strong problem-solving skills to improve productivity and maintain safety and standards on the shop floor.

Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using ESPRIT EDGE software.
• Develop machining strategies for complex components on multi-axis centers.
• Generate toolpaths, setup sheets, and maintain tooling lists.
• Collaborate with engineers, machinists, and quality staff to improve processes.
• Verify and simulate programs to prevent collisions and ensure reliability.
• Select cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and workholding for optimal results.
• Support setup and prove-out activities for new/existing products.
• Troubleshoot machining and programming issues on the shop floor.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity and cost reduction.
• Maintain program revisions and documentation.

Johnson Service Group, a national recruiting firm, is seeking a contract CNC Programmer for our highly reputable, global manufacturing client near the Jackson, TN area. This will be a long‑term contract position with the possibility of converting full time.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to support our new state-of-the-art machining center operations. The ideal candidate will have strong programming experience using CAM software and a solid understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling, fixtures, and optimization techniques. This role is responsible for developing, testing, and improving CNC programs that maximize machine performance, productivity, and part quality.

Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using ESPRIT EDGE software.
• Develop machining strategies for complex components utilizing multi‑axis machining centers.
• Generate toolpaths, setup sheets maintain tooling lists, and related manufacturing documentation.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers, machinists, quality personnel, and production teams to improve processes and reduce cycle times.
• Verify and simulate CNC programs to eliminate collisions and ensure process reliability.
• Select cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and work‑holding methods for optimal production results.
• Support machine setup and prove‑out activities for new and existing products.
• Troubleshoot machining and programming issues on the shop floor.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and cost reduction.
• Maintain accurate program revisions and documentation within company systems.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and manufacturing standards.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from technical school for machining or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3-5 years of CNC programming experience.
• Proven experience with ESPRIT EDGE CAM software.
• Strong knowledge of CNC machining centers, including 3‑axis and 5‑axis equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and CAD models.
• Experience selecting and optimizing cutting tools and machining parameters.
• Proficiency in CNC controls such as Fanuc, Mazak, Mitsubishi or similar.
• Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Experience programming multi‑tasking or mill‑turn machines like DMG Mori NTX 2500 & 3000 series, Integrex I-250 & 350 HSTN, NHX6300.
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles.
