Protocase Inc. in Wilmington, NC is seeking a Mid-Level CNC Machining Process Engineer to develop new machining processes, solve manufacturing challenges, and improve throughput. You will work with machinists, programmers, and engineers to implement repeatable processes and best practices on the shop floor.

The role focuses on process development, tooling evaluations, and machining experiments to reduce cycle times and increase quality, while expanding capabilities across the organization.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of CNC machining experience.
• Experience troubleshooting machining processes and root causes.
• Experience improving machining processes, tooling strategies, cycle times, quality, or productivity.
• Independent problem-solving with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Investigate root causes of machining challenges and develop solutions to improve tooling, fixturing, machine performance, quality, and cycle times.
• Lead machining improvement projects from concept through implementation.
• Develop, test, and validate new machining methods for challenging customer parts.
• Identify inefficiencies and develop practical, scalable solutions.
• Design and execute machining experiments to evaluate tooling, strategies, and process improvements.
• Operate CNC mills (5-axis where applicable) on hands-on tests.
• Document experiments, results, and lessons learned for continuous improvement.
