Responsibilities include selecting tooling, programming bend sequences, inspecting parts with precision gauges, and maintaining production targets while minimizing scrap.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of CNC press brake experience in manufacturing or fabrication.
• Experience reading blueprints and engineering drawings, including GD&T.
• Familiar with bend theory and behavior of materials like stainless steel.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate safely around equipment.

Responsibilities

• Move materials safely using cranes or forklifts.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and report issues.

Job description

A client of Insight Global is looking for a skilled CNC Press Brake Operator to set up and run press brake equipment that forms sheet metal and plate into precise parts. You will read blueprints, program and tool the machine, and check finished parts against specifications, with attention to both quality and safety.

Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate CNC press brakes to bend and form sheet metal, plate, and other materials to specification
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders, including GD&T callouts
• Select, install, and adjust tooling (punches, dies, back gauges) for each job
• Program bend sequences, angles, and backgauge positions at the machine control, or load and verify programs from offline software
• Calculate bend allowances, deductions, and springback compensation
• Inspect parts during and after production using calipers, protractors, angle gauges, micrometers, and height gauges
• Maintain quality and production targets while keeping scrap and rework low
• Handle and move material safely, using overhead cranes, forklifts, or lifting aids as needed
• Perform routine machine maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and basic troubleshooting, and report mechanical issues promptly
• Keep the work area clean and organized
• Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and PPE policies
• Document production counts, inspection results, and job completion accurately

MUST HAVE:

• 2+ years of experience operating CNC press Brakes in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
• Experience with precision measuring instruments (tape measure)
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
• Understanding of bend theory and how different materials (stainless steel) behave when formed
• Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

PLUS:

• Any hand-forming experience
• Experience with Trumpf press brakes (this is what Baader uses)
• Familiar with offline programming software
• Experience with tandem or robotic press brake cells
• Basic knowledge of welding, laser cutting, or other fabrication processes
