Job summary

Wagstaff Inc. in Spokane Valley, WA is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to set up and program CNC and manual machines with tight tolerances. You will train teammates, lead project efforts, and develop machining processes for lathes and mills.

The role requires proficiency with Mazatrol, strong problem-solving, and a commitment to quality. Schedule is Monday–Thursday, 3:20 pm–1:40 am, with a sign-on bonus and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Experience setting up and operating CNC and manual mills and lathes.
  • Mazatrol conversational experience preferred.
  • Capable of training less senior employees and leading project teams.
  • Ability to maintain close tolerances and high quality.
  • Willingness to work weeks exceeding 40 hours when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC and manual production machines, primarily mills and lathes.
  • Select and modify fixtures and tooling to meet part specs.
  • Calculate feeds and speeds to manufacture parts per prints.
  • Troubleshoot issues with parts and assist less skilled workers.
  • Evaluate tool wear and schedule tool changes.
  • Edit CNC programs and offsets as applicable.
  • Develop machining instructions and tool sheets.
  • Support quotes and process development with Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Cross-train and mentor coworkers; lead process improvements.

Schedule: 10-hour shifts, Monday - Thursday: 3:20 pm - 1:40 am

Pay: $30 - $40 *depending on experience

Sign-On Bonus: $3,000

Job Summary

Follow prints and specifications to set up, edit and program CNC machines and/or manual machines, such as lathes and mills, to very close tolerances and to operate these machines for precision work using best and safe practices. Employee is expected to have achieved a level of technical proficiency equivalent to a subject-matter expert, and is capable of training less senior employees and leading project teams.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC and/or manual production machines, primarily mills and lathes. Mazatrol conversational experience preferred but not required.
  • Setup and use, modify, if necessary, required fixtures, cutting tools and work instructions to machine parts to specification
  • Calculate the appropriate feeds and speeds for cutting operations required to manufacture parts to prints
  • Identify and troubleshoot any problems with machined parts and assist other less skilled employees to resolve problems
  • Evaluate tool wear and establish tool change frequency
  • Perform fixture maintenance and tool replacement edits
  • Perform all CNC machining processes including editing G&M codes and offsets (CNC only)
  • Develop machining process instructions, tool sheets, and/or CNC machining programs as necessary and applicable to the specific machine
  • Provide assistance to other departments, primarily Manufacturing Engineering, with the development of job quotes, machining processes, fixtures, and tooling
  • Cross train and mentor co-workers to share skills and knowledge
  • Identify and develop product/process improvements and then lead implementation of these improvements
  • Operate machines using best and safe practices
  • Must produce parts within required tolerances
  • Function as a team member and support other teams
  • Willingness to cross train on other machines as required
  • Follow documented processes
  • Maintain a high degree of quality
  • Maintain required paperwork
  • Housekeeping/maintenance of work area and machinery
  • In order to achieve business objectives, work weeks in excess of 40 hours may be required
  • Abide by company policies
  • Employee may be required to present to small groups to conduct training, lead process improvement initiatives, and provide job status updates
  • Other duties as assigned

Working Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, machinery and equipment, and vibration. The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. While performing some job duties, there is a risk of electrical shock and other risks associated with a manufacturing environment. Job duties may require work in high, precarious places, work in outside weather conditions, and exposure to extreme temperatures in some cases. The noise level in the working environment is often loud. Because of this environment and associated risks, use of job appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing is required.
