Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of basic math, blueprint reading and gauge-reading training.
• Ability to understand written and oral instructions and communicate with supervisors and coworkers.
• Minimum of three years of turning, milling and/or Bar & Chucking Machine Operator experience.
• Forklift operator’s license.
• Basic knowledge of computer applications.
• Certification as a Journeyman in the metal trades industry, or current enrollment in an Apprentice Machinist Program is preferred

Responsibilities

• Set-up and perform a series of machining operations on CNC machines.
• Select proper cutters, determine and adjust feeds and speeds as needed, and replace cutters when dull.
• Make machine setups when standard procedures are not established.
• Operate two or more CNC machines simultaneously.
• Select and install CNC programs and make minor adjustments to meet product specifications.
• Suggest and submit major CNC program changes and efficiency improvements to supervisor/technician/engineer.
• Inspect parts to meet established ISO requirements.
• Process shop orders to meet established due dates.
• Track materials used and solve problems to reduce cost.
• Manage WIP and components; monitor supplies per Kanban system.
• Participate in lean events and use lean processes daily.
• Perform daily TPM on forklifts and related equipment.
• Perform daily 5S activities for forklift and work area.
• Record data on production and quality metrics.
• Use additional pages as necessary to describe position accountabilities
