Job summary

Howmet Aerospace Inc. is seeking a CNC Machinist in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Responsible for operating CNC machinery to produce precision metallic parts per customer specifications, with careful inspection, setup, and process control. This role requires at least 1 year of related experience, US work authorization, and compliance with ITAR regulations.

Experience in manufacturing environments and reading blueprints is preferred; close-tolerance work of +/- .010

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 1 year of related experience and/or training.
  • This position is subject to ITAR which requires U.S. person status.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment or industrial environment (preferred).
  • Experience working with close tolerance practices of +/- .010 or less in a manufacturing environment (preferred).
  • Understand how to read blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Operates CNC machinery to produce metallic parts per customer specifications.
  • Performs pre-operations inspections for safe and efficient operation.
  • Reads and executes daily production schedule.
  • Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions on material or work piece.
  • Sets up fixtures, tools, and materials on machinery.
  • Calculates and sets controls for speed, feed, coolant flow, and cut depth/angle.
  • Monitors machine operation and reports abnormalities to supervisor.
  • Verifies finished work conforms to specifications; stops production if out of spec.
  • Produces daily production reports and inspections as directed.
  • Maintains safe, organized workstation and follows company procedures.

Responsibilities

Ability to operate CNC machinery to produce metallic parts to customer specifications by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This is not intended as a comprehensive list; it is intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.

  • Conducts pre-operations inspections to ensure machine is ready to be operated in safe and efficient manner.
  • Reads and executes daily production schedule as directed by supervisor.
  • Will measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining.
  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machinery.
  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut.
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required and reports problems to supervisor as necessary.
  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications and stops production if any part that is detected to be out of specification.
  • Will confer with Machine Shop Supervisor to resolve machining problems.
  • Produces daily production reports, inspections and other reports as directed by supervisor.
  • Must have understanding and knowledge of company procedures and work instructions.
  • Maintains a safe and organized workstation and follows all company policies and safety procedures.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment or industrial environment
  • Experience working with close tolerance practices of +/- .010 or less, in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understand how to read blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.

Salary Range: $22/hr to$28/hr
