Job summary

Howmet Aerospace is seeking a CNC operator in Berea, OH. The role focuses on interpreting work instructions, setting machine controls, and ensuring parts meet specifications through micrometers and calipers.

Candidates should have 1-3 years of CNC mill/lathe experience, basic math skills, and the ability to read safety and maintenance documents. Overtime may be required; manufacturing experience is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years’ CNC mill/lathe operator experience preferred.
• Experience verifying dimensions of parts with micrometers, calipers, height gauges, thread gauges, depth gauges, or fixed gauges.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Flexibility in work assignments.
• Must be able to continuously perform grasping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and walking.
• Must be able to stand 8-10 hours daily.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. independently and up to 70 lbs. with assistance.
• Must be able to work overtime daily and weekly as required.
• Previous manufacturing experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets work instructions, prints, and job orders for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances.
• With assistance, troubleshoots, edits, and optimizes new production programs to ensure efficient overall production.
• Calculates and sets machine controls to specific work orders and regulate factors such as cutting depth, speed, feed and coolant flow.
• Documents new program changes and processes to ensure setups can be duplicated and production time is optimized.
• Observes operation of machine and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications using gauges and measuring tools.
• Deburrs parts to ensure they meet blueprint specifications.
• Follows all safety policies and procedures.
• Sets up machines on a flexible basis to ensure optimum output throughout the shop.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• With assistance, troubleshoots, edits, and optimizes new production programs to ensure efficient overall production

• Observes operation of machine and verifies conformance of machined work piece to specifications, using measuring instruments, such as fixed gauges, calipers, and micrometers
• Deburr parts to ensure they meet blueprint specifications
• Follow all safety policies and procedures
• Setup machines on a flexible basis to ensure optimum output throughout the shop
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Education and Experience: 1-3 years’ experience as CNC mill/lathe operator preferred
• Experience verifying dimensions of parts, using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, thread gauges, depth gauges, and / or fixed gauges

• Flexibility in work assignments
• Must be able to continuously perform grasping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and walking
• Must be able to handle continuous standing 8-10 hours daily
• Must be able to perform frequent lifting up to 50 lbs. independently and up to 70 lbs. with assistance
• Must be able to work daily and weekly overtime as required
• Previous manufacturing experience preferred but not required
