Job summary

Freres Engineered Wood in Lyons, OR is seeking a CNC Operator to support programming, setup, and operation of the CNC machine at the Mass Plywood Plant. You will help ensure quality and safety while maintaining records.

Training on day shift with potential swing shift after training; full-time, 7:00am–4:00pm, Mon-Fri, with overtime. Competitive wages and benefits.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with controls and large instrumentation.
  • Ability to operate a crane & forklift, preferred but not required.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Experience with inventory control and tooling.
  • Microsoft Office 365 experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, reference planes, and machining parameters; interpreting GD&T.
  • Plan stock inventory by checking stock, determining availability, and expediting orders.
  • Set tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculate requirements and prove part programs.
  • Load panels onto CNC table via overhead cranes.
  • Verify settings by measuring positions and sample parts; adhere to standards.
  • Maintain safety and quality procedures; troubleshoot and adjust controls.
  • Document actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Maintain continuity among shifts by communicating actions and needs.

Wage Range: $26.15 - $30.15 per hour based on experience & certs

Report To: Plant Manager / Shift Supervisor

Status: Full‑time

Job Summary

The CNC Operator reports to the Plant Manager/Shift Supervisor and will provide support in programming, setting up, and operating the computer numerical control (CNC) machine in support of manufacturing operations, specifically for the Mass Plywood Plant. The CNC Operator will maintain quality and safety standards pertinent to this machine center and maintain records for equipment supplies. This position will train on day shift, but may move to swing shift once training is complete.

Responsibilities
  • Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Plan stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock.
  • Set tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculate requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; prove part programs.
  • Load panels to be processed onto CNC table via overhead cranes.
  • Verify settings by measuring positions and sample workpieces, adhering to international standards.
  • Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; take measurements; detect malfunctions; troubleshoot processes; adjust and reprogram controls; sharpen and replace worn tools; adhere to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.y
  • Document actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Ensure regular attendance and punctuality.

Physical Demands
