Gary Galassi Stone & Steel in Illinois is seeking an experienced CNC Operator to program, set up, and operate 5-axis CNC machines to cut natural stone such as granite, marble, and limestone.

You will read CAD/CAM files, select tools, perform maintenance, ensure quality, meet deadlines, and work in a team that values craftsmanship and safety.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced CNC Operator to program, operate, and maintain CNC machinery for cutting natural stone products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background fabrication, detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality work in time sensitive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Program, set up, and operate CNC machines (e.g., 5-axis) to cut natural stone such as granite, marble, and limestone. Day time production cut to size and evening production will run longer programs
• Read and interpret production tickets and CAD/CAM files to ensure accurate fabrication.
• Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and cutting parameters for various stone types and thicknesses.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Inspect finished products for quality, precision, and adherence to specifications, addressing any defects or inconsistencies.
• Collaborate with the production team to meet project deadlines and maintain workflow efficiency.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
• Assist with material handling, including loading and unloading stone slabs, as needed.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in programming CNC machines using software for 5 axis work
• Familiarity with tools such as bridge saws, or CNC routers used in stone fabrication.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality, precise work.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot machine issues.
• Knowledge of workplace safety standards and practices in a fabrication shop.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in CNC
• operation is a plus.
