McKenzie Craft is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented CNC Router Machine Operator to join our production team. The role focuses on setting up, operating, and monitoring the SCM 5' x 12' CNC Router to produce high-quality millwork components based on shop drawings, work orders, and CNC programs.

Ideal candidates are mechanically inclined with experience in CNC or woodworking, though strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn are welcome.

Qualifications

  • Experience operating CNC routers or woodworking equipment preferred.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read shop drawings and follow CNC programs.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate the SCM 5' x 12' CNC Router safely and efficiently.
  • Review work orders, shop drawings, cut lists, and CNC programs before beginning production.
  • Verify that the correct materials, tooling, programs, and machine settings are being used.
  • Load and unload sheet goods and components from the CNC.
  • Inspect materials for damage or defects before machining.
  • Monitor machine operation throughout the cutting and routing process.
  • Check completed parts for dimensional accuracy, quality, and conformance with drawings.
  • Accurately use tape measures, calipers, and other measuring tools.
  • Identify incorrect cuts, damaged material, tooling issues, or machine problems before continuing production.
  • Make basic machine and tooling adjustments when necessary.
  • Change router bits and tooling as required for different operations.
  • Label, organize, and stage completed parts for the next production process.
  • Track material usage and notify the appropriate team member of shortages or damaged material.
  • Perform routine machine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all safety procedures and required PPE guidelines.
  • Communicate production, material, quality, or machine concerns to the Shop Foreman or Production Coordinator.
  • Work with Engineering and Production when clarification is needed regarding drawings, programs, or components.

Candidates must be comfortable and available to work second shift on a consistent basis.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and takes pride in producing accurate, quality work. Previous CNC or woodworking experience is preferred, but we are willing to consider candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn.
