Job summary

Comlux America, located in Indianapolis, seeks a skilled CNC Operator to produce aircraft components for VIP interiors. You will operate CNC machines per approved programs, load materials, and complete setups to support on-time production.

The role requires 1–3 years of CNC experience and a high school diploma. You will inspect parts, adjust offsets, document processes, and ensure compliance with FAA regulations and company procedures.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; technical training preferred.
  • 1–3 years CNC machining experience in manufacturing.
  • Ability to read blueprints and engineering documents.
  • Strong measurement and inspection skills.
  • English literacy is required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC machines per established programs.
  • Load and unload materials and parts with proper work holding and setup.
  • Independently perform repeat setups including fixtures, tooling, and work offsets.
  • Monitor machine operation to maintain run time and efficiency.
  • Perform in-process inspections with measuring instruments and inspection tools.
  • Identify quality concerns or machine issues and stop production when needed.
  • Make minor offset adjustments as required.
  • Verify completed parts meet engineering specs and quality standards.
  • Maintain documentation per procedures and quality standards.
  • Safely operate shop equipment and hand tools.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow safety procedures.
  • Develop working knowledge of company procedures, process specs, IOPs, and FAA requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Role Description

The CNC Operator is responsible for operating CNC machinery to produce high-quality aircraft components and subassemblies for VIP aircraft completions. This role is expected to work independently on established programs, maintain machine productivity, and ensure all work is completed in accordance with engineering drawings, technical manuals, company procedures, and applicable FAA regulations.

Essential Job Functions
  • Operate CNC machines using approved and established machining programs.
  • Load and unload materials and parts while ensuring proper work holding and machine setup integrity.
  • Independently perform repeat job setups including fixtures, tooling, and work offsets.
  • Monitor machine operation to maintain continuous run time and production efficiency.
  • Perform in-process inspections and dimensional verification using approved measuring instruments and inspection tools.
  • Identify quality concerns, dimensional discrepancies, or machine issues and immediately stop production and elevate concerns to leadership.
  • Make minor machine adjustments including offset corrections as required.
  • Verify completed parts meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and customer expectations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure all work is completed in compliance with company procedures and quality standards.
  • Safely operate shop equipment and hand tools including saws, grinders, drill presses, and related machinery.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all department safety procedures.
  • Develop working knowledge of company procedures, process specifications, IOPs, and FAA requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned not specifically covered herein.
Minimum Qualifications, Education And Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required. Technical school or vocational machining training preferred.
  • 1–3 years of CNC machining or CNC operating experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working understanding of machining processes, tooling, offsets, and inspection techniques.
  • Ability to independently operate established CNC programs and perform repeat setups.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.
Required Skills And Abilities
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Ability to follow defined manufacturing processes and approved procedures consistently.
  • Basic math skills related to measurements, tolerances, and machining calculations.
  • Proficiency using measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Ability to safely operate shop equipment and basic hand tools.
  • Working knowledge of computers and related software utilized by Comlux.
  • Willingness to obtain knowledge of FAA requirements, RSQM procedures, and manufacturing quality standards.
  • Ability to communicate in an assertive yet professional, motivating, and tactful manner.
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
