Job summary

Lumbermen’s, headquartered in Grand Rapids, MI, is seeking a CNC Operator at the Cottage Grove location. You will run CNC machines, install glass and door components, stage doors for production or shipping, and support the finish department to ensure high-quality doors.

The role requires a high school diploma/GED, strong communication, independence, safety practices, and a detail-oriented approach. A clothing allowance is provided, plus comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Prior woodworking experience is a plus (router, miter saw, table saw).
  • Prior cabinet manufacturing or trim carpentry work would be considered a plus.
  • Knowledge of exterior doors would be considered a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Run and maintain CNC Machines to produce doors per specifications.
  • Install glass and other door components.
  • Stage doors for production or shipping to meet schedules.
  • Assist finish department to ensure quality finished products.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness in the door area as assigned.
  • Ensure production areas are stocked for the day’s work.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Production Supervisor.

POSITION SUMMARY

Located at our Cottage Grove, MI location, our CNC Operators help with the production processes of a variety of interior and exterior wood and composite materials. They also work to install glass and door bottoms, package doors, and complete other value-add processes to doors being cut by the CNC. These associates are responsible for the timeliness, accuracy, and completion of these daily operations. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Run and maintain CNC Machines and produce product to desired specifications.
  • Installing glass and other door components.
  • Ensuring the proper quality, accuracy, and timeliness of all doors.
  • Properly staging all doors for production or shipping.
  • Assisting with all teams of finish department to ensure the highest quality finished product.
  • Maintaining the organization, maintenance, and cleanliness of the door area, assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Ensuring that all production areas are properly supplied for the day’s work.
  • Performing other tasks as assigned by the Production Supervisor.

This position offers a $300 annual clothing allowance to offset costs for work apparel, protective footwear, and PPE.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • High School diploma/GED required
  • Prior woodworking would be considered a plus; router, miter saws, table saws
  • Prior cabinet manufacturing or trim carpentry work would be considered a plus
  • Knowledge of exterior doors would be considered a plus, but not required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
