Job summary

SCHUNK is seeking a skilled CNC Milling Center Machinist to set up and operate multi-axis milling machines, inspect parts, and optimize tooling and fixtures for high-precision tooling and automation components.

The role emphasizes ownership of parts, adherence to drawings and GD&T, collaboration with design engineers, and continuous improvement in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years CNC machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment
• Ability to independently set up and operate CNC multi-axis milling machines
• Experience creating or optimizing CNC programs to meet drawing requirements
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T, dimensions, and tolerances
• Experience using precision measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications
• Ability to calculate dimensions, tolerances, offsets, feeds, speeds, and material requirements
• Ability to troubleshoot machining, tooling, or production issues and maintain workflow
• Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

• Interpret technical drawings, GD&T, dimensions, and tolerances to plan machining operations
• Collaborate with engineers to refine machining strategies and improve manufacturability
• Select, build, monitor, and change cutting tools per setup and program requirements
• Install and align fixtures and accessories for accurate, repeatable production
• Develop and adjust programs from drawings and machine data
• Independently set up and operate CNC multi-axis milling machines
• Perform in-process and final inspections to verify specifications
• Take ownership of parts from setup to completion with quality
• Support raw material flow and production readiness
• Maintain organized tools, gauges, and work areas
• Communicate process needs and improvements to supervisors and teams
• Maintain clean workspace and report maintenance issues promptly
