Job summary

SCHUNK is seeking a CNC Mill-Turn Machine Setup Operator in Morrisville, NC. You will independently set up and run multi-axis mill-turn machines and robotic loading systems to manufacture precision tooling and automation components.

The role requires reading drawings, verifying programs, and maintaining quality, with a focus on continuous improvement. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of CNC experience, proficiency in GD&T, and strong problem-solving and teamwork abilities in a climate-controlled

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of CNC machining experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and GD&T.
• Experience with tooling selection and fixturing.
• Proficient with precision measuring tools.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Independently set up and operate CNC multi-axis mill-turn machines using drawings, programs, setup sheets, and work instructions.
• Install and qualify tooling, fixtures, workholding, and machine accessories for production.
• Load, verify, and adjust CNC programs and machine offsets.
• Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize robotic loading/unloading systems for unattended production.
• Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks with precision instruments.
• Monitor operations and adjust processes to meet quality, cycle time and productivity targets.
• Support new product introductions, prove-outs, and process validation with engineering.
• Diagnose and resolve machining, tooling, and automation issues to minimize downtime.
• Maintain organized tooling, gauges, fixtures, and work areas.
