Job summary
Los Alamos National Laboratory seeks qualified Mill/Turn machinists to support the PF Division in fabricating precision parts for critical Lab missions. You will operate manual and CNC mills/lathe and wire EDM, reading complex drawings and CAD models to produce components from common and exotic materials.
Applicants should have a related Associate's degree or equivalent experience, 4 years in machining, and CAD/CAM familiarity (SolidWorks/MasterCam).
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in setup and operation of Mill/Turn CNC tools to produce high-difficulty parts with tight tolerances.
- Applied shop mathematics proficiency required.
- Experience in developing machining processes including fixturing and tooling selection.
- Ability to perform basic precision measurements with calipers, micrometers, and verniers.
Responsibilities
- Provide machining support for components vital to the Lab's mission.
- Set up and operate manual and CNC mills/lathes and wire EDM machines.
- Work from complex drawings, sketches, and CAD models to manufacture parts.
- Collaborate in a team environment across classified and unclassified areas.
