Job summary

Avalign Technologies, Inc. is seeking a CNC Mill Operator for its Greenwood, IN facility on a 2nd shift schedule.

You will operate 3-axis or 4-axis Haas Mills to perform cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, boring, and broaching of metallic and nonmetallic work pieces. Responsibilities include reading blueprints, preparing tools, mounting tooling, loading control media, setting controls, and performing setups with quality standards in mind.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of related experience and/or training.
• Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Mathematical skills to manage units of measure, fractions, decimals, whole numbers.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and operations sheets to determine set‑up and operations to be formed.
• Ability to set‑up and operate CNC machinery, input and maintain data in Traverse Manufacturing System.

Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, and machining methods.
• Prepares tools needed for machining operations and verifies fixture setup quality.
• Mounts, aligns, and secures tooling and workpiece on the machine and positions tool holders.
• Loads control media or enters commands to retrieve preprogrammed instructions.
• Calculates and sets machine controls for cutting depth, speed, feed, and coolant flow.
• Conducts prove-outs and manual programming during setups with supervisor approval.
• Starts machine, monitors operation, and detects malfunctions.
• Stops machine to change tools and setup per sequence or to measure parts.
• Performs manual operations if automatic programming fails.
• Cleans machine and performs routine maintenance.
• Adheres to safety regulations and company policies; wears PPE.
• Helps train new employees as required.

We are looking for a CNC Mill Operator to join our Greenwood, IN facility on a 2nd shift schedule. You will operate 3-axis or 4-axis Haas Mills to perform various machine functions, such as cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, boring, and broaching of metallic and nonmetallic work pieces.

What You’ll Do:

• Reads and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and machining methods and sequences
• Prepares tools needed for machining operations; Verifies that fixture setup meets acceptable quality standards regarding milling and boring sizes, depths, angles, or other specifications
• Mounts, aligns, and secures tooling, attachments, and work‑piece on machine; Assembles cutting tools in tool holders and positions tool holders in machine magazines
• Loads control media, such as tape, card, or disk, in machine controller or enter commands to retrieve preprogrammed instructions from database
• Calculates and sets machine controls to position spindle in relationship to work piece and to regulate factors such as cutting depth, speed, feed, and coolant flow
• Conducts prove‑outs and manual programming during setups; only when approved by Supervisor
• Starts machine and monitors displays and machine operation to detect malfunctions
• Stops machine to change cutting tools and setup according to required machining sequence or to measure parts for conformance to blueprint specifications
• Enters commands or manually adjusts machine controls to correct malfunctions or out‑of‑tolerance machining
• Operates machine manually to perform non‑automated functions and when automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunctions
• Discusses control media errors with supervisor or programming personnel to resolve problems
• Cleans machine, tooling, and parts; Performs machine maintenance as needed or required
• Adheres to established company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations; Wears personal protective equipment in accordance with safety and training guidelines
• Helps train new employees as required
