Job summary

Avalign Technologies in Greenwood, IN is seeking a CNC Mill Operator for a 2nd shift. You will operate 3-axis or 4-axis Haas Mills to machine metallic and nonmetallic workpieces, reading blueprints, setting up fixtures, and performing quality checks.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Mathematical skills to manage units of measure, fractions, decimals, whole numbers.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and operations sheets.

Responsibilities

  • Reads and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, and related data to determine tooling and setup.
  • Prepares tools and verifies fixture setup quality for milling and boring.
  • Mounts and aligns tooling and work-piece on machine.
  • Loads control media or enters commands to retrieve instructions from database.
  • Calculates and sets machine controls for cutting depth, speed, and coolant flow.
  • Starts machine and monitors operation to detect malfunctions.
  • Stops machine to change tools and measure parts for conformance.
  • Cleans machine and performs basic maintenance.

We are looking for a CNC Mill Operator to join our Greenwood, IN facility on a 2nd shift schedule. You will operate 3-axis or 4-axis Haas Mills to perform various machine functions, such as cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, boring, and broaching of metallic and nonmetallic work pieces.

What You’ll Do:
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and machining methods and sequences
  • Prepares tools needed for machining operations; Verifies that fixture setup meets acceptable quality standards regarding milling and boring sizes, depths, angles, or other specifications
  • Mounts, aligns, and secures tooling, attachments, and work-piece on machine; Assembles cutting tools in tool holders and positions tool holders in machine magazines
  • Loads control media, such as tape, card, or disk, in machine controller or enter commands to retrieve preprogrammed instructions from database
  • Calculates and sets machine controls to position spindle in relationship to work piece and to regulate factors such as cutting depth, speed, feed, and coolant flow
  • Conducts prove-outs and manual programming during setups; only when approved by Supervisor
  • Starts machine and monitors displays and machine operation to detect malfunctions
  • Stops machine to change cutting tools and setup according to required machining sequence or to measure parts for conformance to blueprint specifications
  • Enters commands or manually adjusts machine controls to correct malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining
  • Operates machine manually to perform non-automated functions and when automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunctions
  • Discusses control media errors with supervisor or programming personnel to resolve problems
  • Cleans machine, tooling, and parts; Performs machine maintenance as needed or required
  • Adheres to established company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations; Wears personal protective equipment in accordance with safety and training guidelines
  • Helps train new employees as required
What You’ll Need:
