Job summary

Hawkeye Metal Spinning is seeking a reliable machinist to operate CNC machines and produce parts to exact specifications in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities include following drawings and shop travelers, documenting output, performing inspections, and maintaining a clean, safe work area. A high school diploma or GED with at least 1 year in manufacturing is preferred; crane certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Check with designated lead person on machine assignment and job assignment.
  • Discuss with current machinist from preceding shift about the machine’s performance and any difficulties encountered.
  • Produce parts on CNC machines according to specifications and production requirements.
  • Unload and package parts according to Hawkeye Metal Spinning standards and customer requirements.
  • Complete accurate daily records (date, times, quantities of parts ran, and scrap) in ERP and on Shop Travelers.
  • Follow instructions from Shop Traveler, Inspection Sheets, and blueprints.
  • Inform quality control or shift supervisor/lead of any problems or concerns with parts.
  • Perform inspections per the Quality Manual to ensure product quality.
  • Conduct required preventive maintenance and report abnormal conditions promptly.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area following 5S and PPE policies.
  • Maintain all required documentation and perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

  • Check with designated lead person on machine assignment and job assignment.
  • Discuss with current machinist from preceding shift about the machine’s performance and any possible difficulties encountered during the course of the shift.
  • Produce parts on CNC machines according to specifications and within acceptable production requirements.
  • Unload and package parts according to Hawkeye Metal Spinning standards and customer requirements.
  • Complete accurate daily records (date, times, quantities of parts ran, and scrap) for every job worked on, on Shop Travelers and in the ERP system.
  • Follow instructions from all Hawkeye Metal Spinning documentation, including: Shop Traveler, Inspection Sheets, and blueprints.
  • Inform quality control, shift supervisor/ lead person of any problems or concerns with parts.
  • Accept responsibility for the quality of products/services provided and perform all required inspections in accordance with the Hawkeye Metal Spinning Quality Manual.
  • Perform required preventive maintenance on equipment, watch and listen for abnormal conditions, and report any concerns to maintenance and/or shift supervisor/lead immediately.
  • Maintain assigned work area in a clean and orderly manner and comply with all 5S procedures.
  • Conduct all tasks and behaviors in a safe manner and comply with all Hawkeye Metal Spinning Safety Policies, including the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, as outlined in the Hawkeye Metal Spinning Safety Manual.
  • Maintain all required documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Mechanical background and machine operating experience are helpful
  • A willingness to learn and be trained on the Hawkeye Metal Spinning manufacturing process

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to routinely bend and squat

Education and Experience:

A high school diploma or GED with at least 1 year of industrial or manufacturing experience is preferred. Crane certification is required. Formal education or experience may be substituted with training when competency in the position is demonstrated.

Working Conditions:

This is a safety sensitive position. This work is performed in a manufacturing setting with moderate to high levels of noise due to machinery and equipment processes. This position requires the use of personal protective equipment for safety compliance and may include overtime as deemed necessary by management.
