Job summary

SMI Metal Precision in north Houston is building a brand-new second shift and seeks an experienced machinist to run a Kuraki KBT-13 CNC mill (Fanuc control). The role supports large-diameter parts and moves through a High Bay with a 25-ton overhead crane.

Requires 3+ years of hands-on large-part CNC machining, overhead-crane experience, plus the ability to set offsets, change tooling, and inspect your own first articles.

Qualifications

• Hands-on large-part CNC machining experience
• Large CNC mill experience
• Overhead crane experience
• Able to set offsets, change tooling, and inspect first article
• Experience running a mix of different parts rather than one repetitive operation
• Must currently reside in the United States
• Comfortable working second shift (afternoon/evening hours)

Responsibilities

• Set up and run a Kuraki KBT-13 CNC mill (Fanuc control)
• Perform setups, offsets, and tool changes
• Machine and measure large-diameter components, with parts up to roughly 2 meters / ~100" OD moving through the same High Bay cell
• Handle, position, and flip large, heavy parts safely
• Operate a 25-ton overhead crane to move parts through the High Bay
• Verify your own first-article inspection, then cross-check a second machinist's first article
• Produce finished precision components that move directly into assembly
