The role involves operating vertical and horizontal milling machines, programming, quality assurance, and performing maintenance duties. A minimum of 4 years experience in a manufacturing environment is required, along with a strong focus on detail and problem-solving skills.
Operate and set up both vertical and horizontal CNC milling machines to produce precision components. You’ll work from complex blueprints and engineering drawings to perform machining operations—turning, boring, threading, facing, grinding, drilling, and tapering—on round bar stock, maintaining tolerances within 0.001″. Strong attention to detail and the ability to troubleshoot machining issues are essential.
Machine Setup & Programming
Configure CNC mills, load tooling, establish work offsets, and run programs.
Edit G- and M-code as needed to optimize part production.
Production Operations
Run vertical and horizontal mills through a series of operations to achieve required finishes and dimensions.
Select appropriate cutting tools based on material and print specifications.
Quality Assurance & Inspection
Measure part dimensions using micrometers, calipers, and other precision instruments to verify conformance.
Record inspection data and maintain accurate production logs.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance
Diagnose and resolve machine or program issues that affect part quality or cycle times.
Perform routine machine maintenance and report any mechanical concerns.
Safety & Housekeeping
Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Operate material-handling equipment (forklift, overhead crane) when required.
Experience:
Minimum of 4 years operating vertical and horizontal CNC mills in a manufacturing or job-shop environment.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and GD&T callouts.
Skilled with G-code/M-code programming and basic CNC edits.
Able to calculate dimensions using fractions and decimals, and select proper tooling.
Measurement & Inspection:
Experienced using tape measures, micrometers, verniers, and calipers to maintain tight tolerances.
Attributes:
Strong problem-solving, prioritization, and communication skills.
Self-sufficient, detail-oriented, and open to adopting new CAD/CAM, tooling, and fixturing techniques.
Lift up to 50 lbs; push/pull duties up to 25% of the day.
Stand or walk up to 100% of the shift; bending, squatting, and reaching up to 25–20% as needed.
Occasional stair/platform stepping (up to 20% of the day).
