Aerotek in Rancho Cucamonga, CA is seeking a CNC Mill Machinist to set up and operate multi-axis CNC mills. You will read blueprints, select tools, load programs, and inspect parts to ensure tight tolerances. This role supports a highly automated shop with DMU 50/65 and HAAS VF machines, primarily on second shift.

The position is contract-to-hire, with a 2nd shift schedule and a focus on safety, organization, and quality. Prior experience on FANUC, Siemens, and HAAS controls is required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC milling machines in a production environment.

Job description

Job Title: CNC Mill Machinist

The CNC Mill Machinist sets up and operates multi-axis CNC milling machines to produce precision parts in accordance with work orders, blueprints, and detailed specifications. This role requires careful interpretation of CNC programs and setup documentation, accurate tool and fixture selection, and diligent in-process inspection to ensure all parts meet quality standards. The machinist maintains a clean, organized work area and consistently follows established safety procedures while supporting a highly automated production environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and machine parts using work orders, blueprints, materials, and specifications to produce high-quality, conforming components.
• Interpret job instructions including CNC programs, setup sheets, tool lists, job routings, part drawings, and in-process quality instructions.
• Identify, select, and locate appropriate tool holders, cutting tools, and fixtures, and load them correctly into the CNC machine.
• Load CNC programs into machine controls, set zero and reference points, and enter tool lengths and offsets accurately.
• Ensure each workpiece is properly lubricated and cooled during machining to maintain tool life and part quality.
• Run CNC programs, monitor machine operation, take precise measurements, and make necessary adjustments to achieve finished parts within tolerance.
• Inspect the first-run piece and perform ongoing checks on subsequent parts to verify conformance to specifications and quality standards.
• Perform multi-position and contour machining of parts, assemblies, and tooling made from various materials including stainless steel and aluminum.
• Set up and run multi-axis machines such as DMU 50, DMU 65, and HAAS VF series, with a primary focus on 4-axis horizontal milling.
• Support automation by loading and unloading parts, checking completed components, and following the established production schedule.
• Operate machines with FANUC, Siemens, and HAAS controls, adjusting parameters as needed to optimize performance.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S standards.
• Follow all company safety rules and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC milling machines in a production or machine shop environment.
• Ability to interpret and work from CNC programs, setup sheets, tool lists, job routings, part drawings, and in-process quality instructions.
• Proficiency in multi-axis machining, including 5-axis and 4-axis horizontal milling operations.
• Experience machining a variety of materials, including stainless steel and aluminum.
• Skill in setting zero and reference points and entering tool lengths and offsets into CNC machine controls.
• Strong measurement and inspection skills to verify part dimensions and ensure conformance to specifications.
• Experience operating DMU 50 and DMU 65 machines.
• Experience operating HAAS VF series mills, including vertical mills.
• Ability to work with FANUC controls.
• Ability to work with Siemens controls.
• Ability to work with HAAS mill and HAAS vertical controls.
• Commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining a clean, organized work area in line with 5S standards.
• Ability to work effectively in a highly automated production environment, including loading, unloading, and checking parts according to schedule.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Standard machine shop environment.
• Experience performing multi-position and contour machining of complex parts and tooling.
• Familiarity with automation-focused workflows, including adherence to production schedules.
• Prior experience at precision machining organizations similar to Absolute Technologies, Turbo Tech Machining, or MD Engineering is considered beneficial.

Work Environment

You work on 2nd shift, Monday through Friday, from 3:00 p.m. to 1:20 a.m., supporting an automation-driven production schedule that involves regular loading and unloading of parts and in-process inspection. The shop follows 5S principles to maintain cleanliness and organization, and established safety rules guide daily operations. Typical machine shop attire and appropriate personal protective equipment are expected to ensure safety and comfort while working around machinery and metalworking processes.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rancho Cucamonga, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $38.00/hr.
