Job summary

Actalent is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer – Machining in Streator, IL. This role focuses on designing, optimizing, and improving machining processes to meet tight fit, form, function, and quality standards while controlling costs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering Technology, or a related field is required.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant manufacturing engineering experience preferred.
• Experience with CNC programming and front-end machining operations such as brake press and saw.
• Capability to lead process improvement projects and manage process engineering activities.
• Experience evaluating and recommending capital equipment, including ROI analyses.
• Strong written and oral communication skills for clear documentation and training.

Responsibilities

• Determine equipment, tooling, and process design to manufacture products cost-effectively while meeting quality standards.
• Develop and maintain documentation, work instructions, and process specifications.
• Deliver training and communicate process changes to supervisors and shop personnel.
• Collaborate with Design Engineering to improve product designs for cost, quality, and manufacturability.
• Lead process improvement projects optimizing machining and related operations.
• Evaluate and procure capital equipment with ROI analyses.
• Process Engineering Change Notices/Requests and ensure timely implementation.
• Analyze current and proposed processes to identify safety improvements.
• Work on front-end CNC processes including programming, brake press, and saw operations.
• Partner with purchasing/installation teams for new equipment.
• Utilize AutoCAD and other tools for documentation and analysis.
• Troubleshoot on the shop floor with installers/operators and refine processes.
