Job summary

MAPAL Dr. Kress SE & Co. KG in Fountain Inn, SC is seeking a skilled machinist to set up and operate cut-off saws, CNC EDM sinks, and multi-axis machines. You will read blueprints, measure parts with precision tools, and ensure parts meet specifications.

You will also handle wheel dressing, laser engraving, and grinding-related tasks. Valid shifts and overtime may be required; familiarity with SAP and MS Office 365 is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and instructions.
• Attention to detail and troubleshooting skills.
• Willingness to work all shifts and overtime as needed.
• Follows safety and MAPAL policies.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate cut-off saws to prepare material for production.
• Measure and test material using micrometers, height gauges, calipers, and digital microscope.
• Program and operate CNC EDM sink machines and CNC multi-axis machines.
• Operate manual and CNC wheel dressing machines; laser engraving for tool markings.

Job description

• Set up and operate cut-off saws to prepare material for production.
• Material measurement and testing according to blueprints with appropriate measurement tools like digital micrometer, height gauge, caliper, and digital microscope
• Program, set up and operate CNC EDM sink machines to produce precision parts according to engineering drawings and specifications
• Program, set up and operate CNC Multi-axis machines to produce precision parts according to engineering drawings and specifications
• Program, set up and operate Manual and CNC Wheel Dressing machines
• Set up template, sizing, placing and operating a Laser Engraving machine to etch tool markings in accordance with safety procedures and MAPAL standards
• Disassemble, assemble or dress Grinder Wheel Packs for production
• Set up and operate surface grinder and edge honing machines
• Produce product in accordance with job router, print and capacity in the most efficient manner
• Ensure work area and equipment are maintained, organized and cleaned to MAPAL standards
• Exhibit and exceed all MAPAL behaviors as defined by policy, procedure, quality and safety standards
• Tasks as assigned to qualification standard

Your Profile

• Previous machining/machine shop experience
• Proficiency in reading and understanding Engineering drawings and instructions
• Detail oriented and skilled in understanding troubleshooting, process workflow
• Good Active listening; Verbal and written communication
• Willingness to work all shifts and when necessary, overtime
• Demonstrated ability in solving problems within the team and the overall operation
• Punctual and reliable; Organized and keeps order/cleanliness
• Working knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office 365
• Follows company policies and safety program as required
