Your day, building precisionFrom the moment you step into the die room, you own the setup and operation of the equipment that turns raw stock into precision parts. You review drawings and samples, plan your sequence of operations, and select the right machine for the task. Over the course of a shift, you may run Engine lathe(s), EDM, Drill Press(s), a Shaper, Mattison grinder, Saw, Manual Bridge Port, Horizontal Mill, CNC Lathes, Mills, 5-Axis equipment, and a Boring Mill to produce quality tooling and components. With micrometers, calipers, and other gages in hand, you verify dimensions and keep output on spec, discarding defects when required. You watch machine, tooling, and cutting fluid levels, keep lubrication and coolant tanks topped off, and empty chip buckets as needed. Between runs, you mark material for cutting and shaping, clean your station and equipment, and follow all plant safety rules. You wrap up by documenting relevant job information and taking on other duties as assigned.Scope and responsibilitiesFull setup and operation of all die room machineryProduce and repair parts on Engine lathe(s), EDM, Drill Press(s), Shaper, Mattison grinder, Saw, Manual Bridge Port, Horizontal Mill, CNC Lathes, Mills, 5-Axis, and Boring MillRead samples, drawings, and instructions to define output specificationsTake measurements, mark material, and plan the sequence of actions to complete each jobUse micrometers, calipers, and other gages to confirm conformance to specificationsMonitor output and scrap defects that do not meet standardsMonitor machine, tooling, and cutting fluid levels; maintain lubrication and coolant tanks; empty chip bucketsKeep work area, machines, tools, and equipment clean and orderlyFollow all safety and plant rules and regulationsPerform other duties as assignedSupervision: This role has no supervisory responsibilities.QualificationsHigh school diploma or GEDVocational school or apprenticeship is a plusMinimum Four years related experience and/or training preferredKey competenciesCommunicationRead and write simple instructions, short correspondence, and memosEffectively report relevant data and job-specific informationMathematicsComfort with intermediate to advanced mathComputerAbility to navigate basic technology, including digital self-service tools, time clocks, and related systemsAdditional preferred experienceExcellent manual dexterity, accuracy, and attention to detailKnowledge of metal properties and other materialFamiliarity with lock out/tag out as an authorized userExperience operating an overhead craneSatisfactory completion of Bennett Mechanical Comprehension TestPhysical demandsStand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, and reach during shiftsUse carts, dollies, cranes, and jacks to move material as neededRegularly lift and/or move up to 40 lbsTolerate potential temperature extremes influenced by weather and machineryAcclimate to high noise and vibration levelsWear and follow PPE requirements, including hard hats, protective eye wear, ear plugs, and approved footwear with metatarsal and steel toe safeguardsWork environmentWork alongside historic machinery and around heat, noise, debris, overhead cranes, and other potentially hazardous equipment.
