Job summary

LECO Corporation in Saint Joseph, MI is seeking a skilled machinist for 2nd shift to read engineering drawings, set up machines, and verify parts with precision measuring tools.

You will respond to out-of-control conditions per the LECO Quality Management Plan, implement corrective actions, and document findings; overtime and shift premiums apply.

Qualifications

• Read engineering drawings, routers, and use precision measuring tools.
• Own—or be willing to purchase—the necessary tools of the trade.
• Journeyman’s Certificate or 5+ years of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to out-of-control conditions as defined by LECO Quality Management Plan.
• Proactively prevent product nonconformities.
• Initiate, recommend, and route solutions through designated channels.
• Identify and document product quality issues.
• Verify corrective actions have been implemented.
• Hold and control any nonconforming product—stopping processing, delivery, or installation—until corrected.
• Inspect the parts you produce and complete associated data entry.

You review engineering drawings and routers, set up a machine cell, and verify precision with your measuring tools. A part trend flags an out-of-control condition—per the LECO Quality Management Plan, you take action, contain the issue, and document what you find. You recommend a fix through the proper channel, verify that the solution works, and only then release the job to continue.
