Job description

CNC Maintenance Machinist II

Location: Skokie, IL, US, 60077

Overview:

The Maintenance Mechanic II performs repair, modification and preventive maintenance tasks on CNC machinery, building, facilities, equipment fixtures and systems. Troubleshoots, repairs and maintains facility plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems.

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Work safely and without injury.
  2. Troubleshoots, repairs and maintains CNC machinery as well as standard facility systems.
  3. Performs routine preventative maintenance operations such as maintaining an accurate TPM record, lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, etc. in accordance with manufacturers operation and maintenance schedule and guidelines.
  4. Performs routine and assists with complex troubleshooting and repair of mechanical equipment and systems. (Requires the isolation of the malfunction, disassembly of equipment and repair/replacement of bearings, gears, structural components, etc.)
  5. Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; soliciting information from line operators and other production associates and listening for problems.
  6. Uses precision measuring and testing instruments, gauges, power tools and other hand tools to complete essential functions.
  7. Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment to return to safe operation.
  8. Assists in the movement of equipment and furniture as needed.
  9. Participate in team meetings as required (safety, problem-solving, etc.)
  10. Implements the Quality Policy and Procedures in all aspects of daily duties and responsibilities.
  11. Performs limited machining operations incidental to repair and maintenance tasks.
  12. Performs basic troubleshooting and root cause analysis of equipment failures.
  13. Reviews service requests for repairs and maintenance determines nature of problem and recommends appropriate solution.
  14. Performs required preventive maintenance actions such as lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, etc.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. 5+ years of maintenance troubleshooting experience.
  3. CNC machining center experience preferred, including Mazak, Nakamura, Samsung, Okuma and/or DMG Mori.
  4. Experience working with PLC’s.
  5. Experience working with AC/DC Motors/Drives.
  6. Experience with electronic wiring/circuits and schematics.
  7. Experience with industrial electrical needs related to machinery.
  8. Willing to learn advanced CNC maintenance techniques.

Desired Characteristics, Competence and Capabilities:

  1. Proficient reading engineer drawings, blueprints and technical manuals.
  2. Must possess good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  3. Excellent time management and organizational skills; must be able to multi-task and prioritize duties.
  4. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  5. Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
  6. Ability to effectively problem-solve.
  7. Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:

  1. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is continuously standing, repetitively grasping and repetitively using fine manipulation with the hands. The team member may be frequently required to walk, bend, squat, or twist as well as repetitively push or pull. Individual must be able to work at heights. Will be required to frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
  2. This position is performed in a shop environment. Team members in this position will be exposed to loud operating machinery, cold temperatures, chemicals and vapors. The team member will frequently be required to work outside and at heights. The team member may occasionally be required to work in an office environment.
  3. Hand and power tools, ladders, lifts, computer.

Work Arrangement: Onsite

Pay Range: $19.68 - $27.57 per hour
