As we expand our team, we are seeking a skilled and motivated CNC Machinist (Lathe) for our weekend shift who shares our dedication to delivering exceptional quality in every product we create.

Position Summary

The CNC Lathe setup/operator sets up and operates a variety of lathe machines to mill and/or turn workpieces. This role requires applying a range of machine tool setup and operating techniques daily. You will troubleshoot setups and production runs to improve job performance and ensure that completed work meets all quality requirements.

Schedule:

  • Friday - Sunday Schedule, 12-hour shift

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Make mechanical and/or program adjustments to ensure parts meet quality requirements.
  • Communicate recommendations to modify processes to improve productivity and quality.
  • Demonstrate good manufacturing practices.
  • Machine parts by utilizing CNC lathe machines to perform various functions, such as cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, and boring.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by complying with organizational standards and legal regulations.
  • Respond professionally to process improvements.
  • Start and observe machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls as required.
  • Work with blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Grind, file, or sand surfaces of metal items using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and machines.
  • Move materials and maintain a clean work area.
  • Ensure the visual and physical quality of the parts being loaded and unloaded.
  • Identify and replace any broken or worn tools and make tool offsets.
  • Set up previously proven jobs with minimal instruction.
  • Examine surfaces to find defects, remove defects, and smooth uneven surfaces.
  • Exhibit a strong work ethic and positive attitude.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • High School or GED Diploma required; Associate's degree or Certification in related fields preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience with operating and troubleshooting a CNC lathe machine.
  • Basic understanding of G-code and M-code programming.
  • Blueprint reading with GD&T capabilities.
  • Ability to use and read precision measuring instruments, including but not limited to micrometers, calipers, fixtures, and gauges, to inspect work.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and maintain professionalism at all times.
  • Self-motivated and adapts well to ongoing change.
  • Ability to maintain a safe work environment.

The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
