The Opportunity

The CNC Machinist will have responsibility for the setup and operation of miscellaneous computerized numerical control (CNC) and/or manual machines in cell location 8595 (Turbine Disk and Blade). The Machinist will also ensure that machines are properly tooled and may be required to make recommendations to modify programs as appropriate. They will participate in inspection and/or testing related activities to ensure the parts are machined in accordance with manufacturing standards and specifications.

Responsibilities
  1. Set-up and operation of miscellaneous CNC and/or manual machines (VTLs).
  2. Machine and/or test parts according to engineering and customer standards and specifications.
  3. Maintain accurate and reliable documentation.
  4. Participate in establishing manufacturing methods, including machine, test, material and tooling requirements, to ensure parts are machined according to engineering tolerances/specifications.
  5. Perform inspection and/or testing activities to ensure parts are machined per standards and blueprints. Visually inspect parts for burrs or damage.
  6. Provide input for selecting, installing, and adjusting cutting tools, ensuring compatibility with material being machined.
  7. Remove burrs, sharp edges, and tool marks to meet blueprint and tolerance standards.
  8. Maintain proper identification of parts and accurate records.
  9. Communicate shift requirements clearly to team members.
  10. Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment.
  11. Keep the work area organized and clean.
  12. Ensure continuous material and parts flow.
  13. Adhere to safety standards and regulations.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED and at least 2 years of machining experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and manufacturing specifications.
  • Knowledge of machining and related mathematical concepts.
  • Understanding of inspection techniques.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull 60 lbs, with proper assistance if needed.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance.
