The Opportunity

The CNC Machinist will have responsibility for the setup and operation of miscellaneous computerized numerical control (CNC) and/or manual machines in cell location 8595 (Turbine Disk and Blade). The Machinist will also ensure that machines are properly tooled and may be required to make recommendations to modify programs as appropriate. They will participate in inspection and/or testing related activities to ensure the parts are machined in accordance with manufacturing standards and specifications.

Additionally, the CNC Machinist will:

  1. Set-up and operate miscellaneous CNC and/or manual machines (VTLs).
  2. Machine and/or test parts according to engineering and customer standards and specifications.
  3. Maintain accurate and reliable documentation.
  4. Participate in establishing manufacturing methods, including machine, test, material and tooling requirements, to ensure parts are machined according to engineering tolerances/specifications.
  5. Perform inspection and/or testing activities to ensure parts are machined per standards and blueprints, inspecting for burrs or damage.
  6. Provide input for selecting, installing, and adjusting CNC and manual machine cutting tools suitable for the material being machined.
  7. Remove burrs, sharp edges, tool marks, and irregularities to meet blueprint and tolerance requirements.
  8. Maintain proper identification of parts and accurate records.
  9. Communicate shift requirements to ensure team continuity.
  10. Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment.
  11. Keep the work area clean, organized, and in accordance with standards.
  12. Ensure continuous flow of materials and parts through the cell.
  13. Adhere to all safety standards and regulations.
Qualifications

High School diploma or GED with at least 2 years of machining experience. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications. Basic knowledge of machining and inspection techniques. Capable of training and guiding lower skill team members.

  • Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs. (with assistance if over 50 lbs.).
  • Must be able to push/pull 60 lbs.
  • Grip strength of at least 50 lbs.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Must be able to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance if necessary.
