Madden Industrial Craftsmen Inc. in Portland, OR, is seeking a CNC Machinist Trainee for a long-term, day shift opportunity in a heavy industrial shop. This role offers hands-on training to grow into a skilled CNC Machinist, with components up to 100,000 lbs.

No prior experience required, but basic mechanical exposure helps. Pay is $21–$24/hour DOE, with benefits including medical, 401(k), paid sick leave and holidays.

Qualifications

• Previous machining or related hands-on experience is preferred but not required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in CNC and manual machining.
• Basic familiarity with hand tools and measuring tools.
• Ability to learn how to use precision measuring equipment and tolerances.
• Comfort around large industrial equipment and components.
• Attention to detail and safety conscious.

Responsibilities

• Assist with setup and operation of machining equipment, including mills and lathes.
• Learn machine setup, tooling, workholding, and processes under experienced machinists.
• Read blueprints and shop drawings to interpret dimensions.
• Use micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions and quality.
• Deburr, inspect, and prepare machined components for next steps.
• Assist with safe handling of large and heavy components.
• Learn crane operation and large-component handling procedures.
• Maintain organized work area and follow shop safety procedures.
• Develop machining skills and production capabilities through hands-on training.
