Caterpillar in East Peoria, IL is seeking entry level Machinist Trainees for 2nd and 3rd shifts. The program offers paid training, with starting pay listed at $23.22 per hour plus a $1.00 night shift premium, and requires ability to learn on the job.

After training, trainees will set up and operate CNC machines, read blueprints, and verify part conformance while building foundational machining skills in a supplemental position.

Qualifications

• Previous CNC training or experience.
• High mechanical aptitude.
• Excellent attitude and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work any shift.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machines to produce high precision parts.
• Read blueprints and drawings to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Verify conformity of parts using measurement instruments such as micrometers or calipers.
• Accurately apply intermediate mathematical skill, including geometry, trigonometry, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and conversion of fractions and decimals.
• Ability to determine feed, speeds, and select tooling.
