Job Description

HireLevel is seeking a CNC Machinist Trainee for a well-established industrial repair shop in West Frankfort, IL. This is a great opportunity for individuals with related experience—no prior CNC or waterjet experience is required, as training will be provided for motivated and dependable candidates.

About the Company:

With 35+ years in business, this company specializes in industrial machine repair, overhaul, and maintenance. As a trainee, you'll get hands-on training to operate waterjet and CNC equipment.

Pay Rate: $18-20/hour based on experience.

Shift: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm

Responsibilities of the CNC Machinist Trainee:

• Learn to set up and operate CNC waterjet machines
• Assist with reading blueprints and work orders
• Support tool selection and job setup with senior machinists
• Use measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, micrometers)
• Help inspect parts for quality and accuracy
• Use basic programs like Word and Excel for documentation
• Follow basic machine shop safety procedures
• Understand GD&T and basic metallurgy
• Gain exposure to design software
• Navigate the Windows file system efficiently
• Work with both imperial and metric units

Job Requirements of the CNC Machinist Trainee:

• Willingness to learn CNC machining and waterjet operation
• Basic math skills, including converting fractions and decimals
• Interest in working with your hands and attention to detail
• Ability to stand for long periods and handle physical tasks
• Previous experience in manufacturing or mechanical environments is a plus, but not required
• Familiarity with blueprints or mechanical drawings is helpful but not mandatory
