Job summary

Karman Space & Defense is seeking a CNC Machinist for second shift weekend operations in South El Monte, CA. You will prepare tooling, set up CNC machines, and produce high-precision components in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

You will work with programmers, maintain AS9100 procedures, prioritize schedules, and ensure parts meet customer requirements while upholding quality standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Adequate years of CNC equipment operation experience as determined by Karman.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
• Experience with Siemens 840D and Fanuc 31i-B5 controls.
• Strong blueprint interpretation skills.
• Thorough understanding of machine setups, tooling, and cutters.
• Ability to communicate directly with internal customers.
• Training in applicable changes and customer requirements.
• Knowledge of Quality Management System (QMS) reporting, record keeping, and process adherence.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and implements AS9100 procedures and supports continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
• Performs general maintenance and cleaning of CNC machines.
• Cleans and properly stores machine fixtures.
• Works with management to prioritize machine schedules.
• Collaborates with programmers to minimize setup and manufacturing time.
• Orders cutters and tooling required to support manufacturing.
• Operates CNC machines to manufacture components.
• Reports recommendations or concerns affecting quality or time management to management.
• Evaluates potential impacts of product failures on customer requirements.
• Provides additional duties as required.
