Job summary

Marini Manufacturing, Inc. is seeking a CNC Machinist/Set Up to set up and operate CNC Machining Centers to cut, shape or form metal pieces in the Production department. You will load programs, verify tools, and adjust for tolerance to ensure quality parts.

The role requires reading blueprints, using precision measuring tools, and performing routine machine maintenance. This is a hands-on, non-exempt on-site position in Wisconsin.

Responsibilities

  • Install fixtures, vises, and chuck jaws; load programs, touch off or verify tools and jaws for prove out of new jobs and repeat runs.
  • Make adjustments to bring parts into tolerance.
  • Load and unload pieces using hoists and hand tools to secure raw material to work holding device.
  • Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls as required.
  • Verify dimensions and alignments of finished pieces using micrometers, bore gauges, rail gauges, and gauge blocks.
  • Possibly operate manual equipment (drill press or static balancer) to finish pieces to specifications.
  • Identify finished pieces; record production information using forms and in the JobBoss system.
  • Clean finished pieces using washing machine and deburring equipment; stack on pallets or place in boxes.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on manual and automated machines; check and refill oil level and make minor repairs.

Job Title: CNC Machinist/Set Up

Department: Production

Reports to: Operations Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY:

  • Under the general direction of the Operations Manager, the CNC Machinist Level II primary responsibilities will be to set up as well as operate CNC Machining Centers to cut, shape or form metal product pieces.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ability to install fixtures, vises, and chuck jaws; load programs, touch off or verify tools and jaws for prove out of new jobs and repeat runs. Make any adjustments to bring parts into tolerance.
  • Loads and unloads pieces to be machined, using hoists and hand tools to lift and secure raw material to work holding device.
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
  • Verifies dimensions and alignments of finished piece, using measuring instruments such as micrometers, bore gages, rail gages, and gage blocks.
  • May operate manual equipment, such as drill press or static balancer to finish pieces to specifications.
  • Identifies finished pieces. Records production information for pieces run using Work in Process Forms, 100% Check Logs and in the JobBoss business system.
  • Cleans finished pieces using washing machine, deburring equipment such as hand grinders and “whip blades”. Stacks finished pieces on pallets or places in boxes or tubs.
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance on manual and automated machines in work station, including occasional cleaning of machine interior and exterior, checking and refilling oil level, making minor repairs.
  • Notifies supervisor of needed repairs to equipment and machinery.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • May assist with the training of CNC Machinist Level I.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Operations Manager
