Job summary

Kaney Inc. in Rockford, IL is seeking a CNC Machinist to set up and operate CNC equipment. You will perform quality inspections and adjust processes to meet product requirements, with some supervision to achieve productivity, quality, and safety goals.

The role requires basic mechanical aptitude and ability to read G&M programming, blueprints, and GD&T. Preferred training or certification will help in this position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–2 years related experience or certified training preferred.
• Experience with GD&T and reading blueprints is preferred.

Responsibilities

• With oversight as needed, perform setups and operation of assigned CNC equipment.
• Inspection using variety of gauging including CMM.
• Use common inspection equipment: micrometers, indicators, and calipers.
• Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
• Assist in the training of other operators in the safe use and operation of CNC equipment.
• Maintain correct time reporting and accurate entries on manufacturing and inspection records.
• Comply with all company quality and safety requirements.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 1-2 years related experience or certified training

Minimum Competencies

• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read and understand G&M programming
• Ability to read and interpret blue prints/drawings.
• Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).

Preferred Qualifications

• Formal training such as related college course work, vocation training, certificate programs or apprenticeship training strongly preferred

Preferred Competencies

• Knowledge of a variety of inspection equipment and techniques
• LEAN manufacturing experience
