Job summary

Peerless-AV is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist & Programmer to support tooling and production operations. The role covers programming, setup, and operation of Haas CNC equipment to meet schedules. The ideal candidate has CAM experience and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Hours: 5:00 am - 1:30 PM, Monday - Friday. The position requires reading engineering drawings, GD&T, and strong math skills, with experience on Haas, Fanuc, or Hurco controls.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a Tool & Die apprenticeship or comparable hands-on machining experience.
• Proficient in CNC machining including setup and operation with GD&T and engineering drawings.
• Strong knowledge of G-code and CNC processes; ability to read blueprints and inspect first pieces.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate CNC machines (Haas) using CAM software (FeatureCAM preferred).
• Interpret blueprints and GD&T specifications to ensure part accuracy.
• Perform first-piece inspections and verify machining accuracy.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust programs, tooling, or setups as needed.
• Maintain tight tolerances on small precision parts and document production activity.
• Operate toolroom equipment and use precision measuring instruments to ensure quality.
• Assist in building, modifying, and repairing tooling, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Tool & Die apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on machining experience
• CNC machining experience including setup and operation
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
• Working knowledge of G-code and CNC processes
• Experience with Haas, Fanuc, or Hurco controls
• Strong math skills (including trigonometry)

Preferred

• Experience with FeatureCAM or similar CAM software
• Background working with small precision parts
• Tooling, die repair, or fixture-building experience

ESSENTIAL RESULTS

• Program, set up, and operate CNC machines (Haas) using CAM software (FeatureCAM preferred)
• Background with Fanuc, HAAS and or Hurco controls a must
• Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T specifications
• Perform first-piece inspections and verify machining accuracy
• Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust programs, tooling, or setups as needed
• Maintain tight tolerances on small precision parts
• Assist in building, modifying, and repairing tooling, jigs, fixtures, and gauges
• Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes
• Operate toolroom equipment including mills, lathes, grinders, and Bridgeport machines
• Use precision measuring instruments to ensure quality standards are met
• Maintain equipment and follow preventive maintenance procedures
• Document production activity and communicate across shifts
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment
• Learn to build and repair tools from part prints, 2D electronic prints, 3D CAD detail
• Other Duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Must be able to work overtime, including weekends
• Must be physically capable of standing/bending /stooping/griping 8+ hour shift(s)
• Must lift up to 30 lbs. without assistance. Anything over 30 lbs. will be a team lift.
• Must be able to work in non-climate, non-dust-controlled areas
• Must be able to wear required safety equipment
