Job summary

Exco Electric is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team in Egan, LA. You will operate, set up, and program CNC machines, including lathes and milling centers, to produce precision parts that meet exact specifications.

Your expertise in tooling, blueprints, and measurement will drive quality in a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment. You will read mechanical drawings, program with G-code/Mazatrol, and participate in lean manufacturing initiatives to optimize processes

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating CNC machinery with proficiency in CNC G-code programming.
• Strong knowledge of CAD software like SolidWorks for interpreting technical drawings.
• Familiarity with CAM programming software for toolpath generation.
• Ability to read mechanical blueprints and GD&T specifications.
• Skilled in using precision measurement instruments for quality control.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC machining equipment such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders with Fanuc or similar controls.
• Program CNC machines using G-code, M-code, CAM software, and Mazatrol controls.
• Set up machines with tooling, fixtures, and workpieces per blueprints and drawings.
• Interpret blueprints to determine machining parameters and tolerances.
• Measure parts with calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, CMMs to meet specs.
• Perform machine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
• Inspect finished parts for quality using CNC inspection techniques and GD&T.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow safety protocols.
• Assist in setup and operation of manual tools for prototypes.
• Support lean manufacturing by reducing waste through efficient setup and operation.

Job Responsibilities

• Operate CNC machining equipment such as CNC lathes, milling machines, and grinders using Fanuc or similar control systems.
• Program CNC machines utilizing G-code, M-code, CAM programming software, and Mazatrol controls to produce complex parts efficiently.
• Set up machines by installing tooling, fixtures, and workpieces accurately according to blueprints and technical drawings.
• Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical specifications to determine machining parameters and tolerances.
• Conduct precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other measurement instruments to ensure parts meet quality standards.
• Perform machine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting to maintain optimal performance.
• Inspect finished parts for quality compliance through CNC quality inspection techniques and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
• Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols related to machine operation and material handling.
• Assist in the setup and operation of manual machining tools when necessary for prototype or specialized tasks.
• Support lean manufacturing initiatives by optimizing processes and reducing waste through efficient machine setup and operation.

Job Requirements

• Proven experience operating CNC machinery such as CNC mills, lathes, or grinders with proficiency in CNC G-code programming.
• Strong knowledge of CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software like SolidWorks or CAD systems for interpreting technical drawings.
• Familiarity with CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) programming software for toolpath generation.
• Ability to read mechanical blueprints accurately and interpret mechanical blueprints including GD&T specifications.
• Skilled in using precision measurement instruments such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines for quality control.
• Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of machining tools, tooling setup, metal machining processes, and manual machining techniques including lathe work.
• Knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes is a plus.
• Experience with Fanuc or similar CNC control systems; familiarity with M-code commands essential.
• Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, feeds, speeds, and tolerances required in machining operations.
• Ability to work safely with power tools, hand tools, forklifts (certification preferred), and other manufacturing equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail; ability to troubleshoot machine issues promptly.
• Commitment to continuous improvement principles such as lean manufacturing practices.
