Job summary

Elgen Staffing is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist & Programmer for our client in Billerica, MA. The role involves programming, setup, and operation of CNC machines to convert raw stock into finished parts per drawings and specs.

Ideal candidates have expertise with modern machining practices, shop math, and metrology; Fusion360 or Mastercam is a plus. Strong collaboration and US work authorization required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 5 years’ experience preferred, but not required.
• Ability to work well with others and a good work ethic.
• Candidate must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

• Program, setup and operate CNC machine tools such as multi-axis lathes.
• Self-sufficiently handle raw stock to finished product.
• Select cutting tools and determine speeds, feeds, tolerances, and sequence of operations.
• Set up machines, run trial cuts and adjust as needed.
• Finish metal by hand or machine.
• Use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM, etc.).
• Read customer drawings and specifications to lay out work.

Job description

Our client, a precision metals manufacturing facility, has an immediate need for an experienced CNC Machinist & Programmer, to join our winning team in Billerica.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Program, setup and operate computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools such as multi-axis lathes.
• Able to self-sufficiently take various metal types from raw stock to finished product.
• Familiar with today’s technology of cutting tools and machining practices.
• Plans and lays out work from customer drawings and other specifications. Determines speeds, feeds, tolerances, and sequence of machine operations on a variety of machine tools or performs a complete sequence of operation.
• Makes all setups and adjusts machines, making trial cuts as necessary.
• Finishes metal by hand or machine.
• Uses such specialized measuring instruments as vernier calipers, micrometers, surface gages, profilometer, CMM, vision systems, and dial indicators.
• Utilizes trigonometric formulas in order to calculate complex and/or component angles and dimensions.
• Uses shop mathematics and standard handbook formulas in computing dimensions for planning and laying out work.
• Use computer and necessary software as required. Fusion360 is preferred. Mastercam is acceptable.
• Perform other duties as required.
