Job summary

Cogent Analytics seeks a skilled Machinist I to operate CNC mills, lathes, and water jet equipment on a precision production floor. You will independently set up jobs from print to finished part, maintain tight tolerances, and mentor junior machinists.

Responsibilities include reading complex drawings with GD&T, editing CNC programs, and performing inspections with micrometers and CMMs. Schedule is Mon-Thu 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.; Fri 7:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m., with occasional overtime.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on machining experience.
• Proficiency with CNC mills, lathes, and manual machines.
• Strong GD&T reading and blueprint interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC mills, CNC lathes, and water jet equipment independently.
• Read and interpret complex drawings with GD&T callouts; plan tooling and fixturing.
• Perform in-process and final inspections using precision instruments (micrometers, calipers, CMMs).
• Mentor and assist less experienced machinists; communicate issues to the Shop Foreman.
