Harris American in Cordele, GA is seeking a skilled Machinist to operate lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC machines to produce precision metal parts per engineering specs. You will read drawings, select tools, set up equipment, perform measurements with micrometers and calipers, and inspect parts for conformance while maintaining safety and records.

Qualifications

Completion of a machining program or apprenticeship is beneficial.
Experience on manual and CNC machine tools.
Ability to read engineering drawings, blueprints, and specs.
Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges).

Responsibilities

Set up and operate machine tools to perform machining operations to spec.
Interpret drawings and determine machining requirements, tolerances, and finishes.
Select tools, fixtures, and materials; set up machines per instructions and safety guidelines.
Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure conformance to specs.
Troubleshoot tooling or workpieces and adjust as needed to maintain quality and efficiency.
Perform routine maintenance on machine tools to ensure performance and longevity.
