Job summary

Atlas Copco in Grayling, MI seeks a CNC Machinist to operate manual and CNC machines, program tooling, read blueprints and GD&T, and ensure high-precision parts. You’ll set up equipment, verify first runs, troubleshoot, and maintain quality while following safety procedures.

Ideal candidates have experience with manual machining, CNC programming (Mastercam preferred), strong math skills, and the ability to mentor less experienced machinists. Some heavy lifting and shift hours apply.

Qualifications

• Experience operating manual machining tools
• Experience with CNC machinery and tooling
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings/blueprints
• Basic computer skills and CNC programming knowledge (Mastercam preferred)
• Strong mechanical aptitude and math skills
• Attention to detail with results-driven approach
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand long shifts

Responsibilities

• Prepare raw materials, tooling, and machine setup using blueprints and GD&T
• Program machines, set tools/offsets, calculate requirements
• Set up machines with chucks, fixtures, and vices
• Verify settings, run first parts, inspect samples
• Maintain specifications during drilling, grooving, and cutting; troubleshoot
• Ensure safe operations and follow procedures
• Document actions and communicate needs across shifts
• Mentor less experienced machinists to ensure high quality output
