Job summary

Atlas Copco in Grayling, MI, is seeking a CNC Machinist to join the Machine Shop team. You will operate manual and CNC machines, read technical drawings, and contribute to quality products. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and collaboration within a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Manual Machining Experience with ability to operate machines.
• CNC machinery operation experience and precision measurement tools.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings/blueprints.
• Basic computer and CNC programming skills; Mastercam preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare raw materials, tooling and machine set-up from blueprints, with GD&T interpretation.
• Program machines by entering instructions, setting tools and offsets; verify part programs.
• Set up machines with chucks, tools, fixtures and attachments; ensure proper alignment.
• Measure positions, run first parts, and sample workpieces to verify settings.
• Maintain specs during drilling, grooving and cutting; troubleshoot and reprogram as needed.
• Observe safety procedures and regulations for safe operations.
• Note and report machine maintenance needs and malfunctions.
• Keep work area clean and organize fixtures and tooling.
• Document actions and communicate shift handoffs to maintain continuity.
• Accept new tasks to add value and drive efficiency.
• Mentor less experienced machinists on safe, high-quality methods.
